iPhone Screen Grading Rules

We use five grades, A to E, for original iPhone displays.
These rules apply to every original screen sent to us for buyback.

Grade A, broken glass only

Grade A, broken glass only

Top grade. Highest payout.

  • Original panel
  • Front glass cracked or scratched
  • Image: perfect, no shadow, lines, dots or dead pixels
  • Touch: works across the whole screen
Grade B, light burn in

Grade B, light burn in

Original panel with light burn in. High payout.

  • Original panel
  • Image: a faint shadow or ghost, light burn in
  • No dead pixels, no lines, no other marks
  • Touch: works across the whole screen
  • Glass can be cracked
Grade C, heavy burn in

Grade C, heavy burn in

Original panel with heavy burn in. Reduced payout.

  • Original panel
  • Image: a strong, clearly visible shadow, heavy burn in
  • No dead pixels, no lines, no other marks
  • Touch: works across the whole screen
  • Glass can be cracked
Grade D, minor image defect

Grade D, minor image defect

Original panel with image faults. Lower payout.

  • Original panel, still shows an image
  • Image faults: dead pixels, lines, or discolouration
  • Touch: works, or only partly faulty
  • Most of the image and touch must still work
  • Any glass or frame damage is fine
Grade E, heavy defect / dead

Grade E, heavy defect / dead

Original panel with a heavy fault, or a dead screen. Lowest payout.

  • More than half the image or touch has failed
  • Includes screens that are fully dead, all white or green, or won't turn on
  • Lowest payout
  • Some models are not bought at grade E

We only grade and pay for original iPhone displays. If you're unsure whether your screens are original, contact us before shipping.

How Grading Affects Payout

  • Each model has its own price for A, B, C, D and E.
  • After testing your shipment, we send you a summary of how many units fell into each grade and the total payout.
